LG Elections: Cut-outs and posters permitted | Front Page: "Mr. Dissanayake told the representatives of political parties and monitoring groups, during a meeting with them, that candidates could now use posters in their campaigns without fear. The Elections Commissioner also said that elections to five more councils would be postponed pending court decisions. He said that elections would not be held as planned, on March 17, to the Kuliyapitiya Urban Council, the Tirukkovil Pradeshiya Sabha, the Ruwanwella Pradeshiya Sabha, the Trincomalee Urban Council and the Giribawa Pradeshiya Sabha.

Elections to 59 other local bodies had been postponed prior to these."
