Preparations underway for Takutai Moana Hikoi | TangataWhenua.com:
There have been rumblings over the past several months as opposition to the proposed Marine & Coastal Bill (Takutai Moana) grows and now it is official. The 2011 hikoi will be lead by Wikatana Popata and Te Roopu Maranga Ake starting on 24th February at Te Rerenga Wairua at 6am (starting with a karakia).
Those that wish to join in are asked to bring their walking shoes, flags, placards and banners.
As with the last hikoi there will be a need for mana whenua whose lands the hikoi passes through to help organise and support if possible.
