King: Cop sex abuse deserves same scrutiny as priest scandal - NY Daily News:


In a ten-year span, the Catholic Church defrocked 848 priests who committed sex crimes all over the world. In just about half that time, nearly 1,000 American police officers
have lost their badges for sex crimes and that doesn't even include
officers from New York or California — the states with the two largest
police departments in the country. Last November the Associated Press ran an investigation
about the mind blowing number of police officers who've committed sex
crimes that I genuinely thought it would be a game changer. It detailed
the horrendous facts, figures, and gut-wrenching stories of rape, child
molestation, sex trafficking, and child pornography involving law
enforcement officials.
