The Ghost of Dick Wilson

16.10.08

feels great to be vindicated by one's peers.

While the mainstream "Native" press took offense to my calling Apples Apples when they make their presence known, other not-so-angry Indigenous folks picked up on what I was getting at. The accepted Native American press is an enabler of the American colonialist state. Period.

The long dark shadow of Dick Wilson and his GOONS is in the house. Mr. Wilson, when he was not planning terrorist attacks against the American Indian Movement and other traditionalist Indian activists, used to tell the White media that they were the "real Indians" with the traditionals just playing at being Indian. Is it "Indian" to side with the organisations that have perfromed genocide upon your own people? Is it "Indian" to accept money for 'fronting' for said groups via your community media as limited at it is? Somebody please tell me, what is wrong with this picture?

It is a picture of 500 plus years of colonialist White settler damage on the minds of the Indian people in the Americas. It occurs in other nation-states and situations too, don't get me wrong. But the United States has virtually patented the process of eradicating the innate self-respect of many First Nations people to the point that some of us more than willing to aid them in hastening our own destruction. The First Nations reading public has been spoon-fed editorials and articles by "responsible" American Indians praising John McCain and his latest bad joke of a running mate Gov. Sarah Palin as the Christian war heroes who will defend the Indian right to remain under the thumb of the settler White man without ever mentioning the GOP's dismal record of oppossing Indian human rights.

This is blatantly lop-sided yellow journalism. Here are victims of White supremacist ideology supporting the resurgence of White racist extremism while the GOP-led mainstream media continues to link Barack Obama to the Pastor/Mentor he unceremoniously dropped, (along with most of the conscious American African population) the Nation of Islam, (as if the NOI is something totally bad but still not a true association) Arab Islamic terrorism, the sexual exploitation of children, (ludicrous and ugly charges that stem from absolutely nothing but neo-con delusions) Osama bin-Laden, (The Bush family has more connections to bin-Laden than anyone else in the United States) the grassroots community organisation ACORN, (abolutely not anything bad unless helping minorities represent themselves is a subversive act)

Ok, so what to make of this right? I mean, Gov. Sarah Palin is directly connected to White supremacists/fascists, creationists and anti-abortion activists, (movements with a documented history of violent activity) used her considerable political power to go after her former brother-in-law, preaches family values while unable to control her own children, ( a teenaged un-wed and pregnant daughter with a gun-toting thug for a baby daddy and a son who entered the military to avoid doing time for vandalizing school buses.) Yet, Indian Country has made a point of defending Gov. Palin against the White man's enemy, the dreaded liberal menace who point out Palin's questionable associations, religious beliefs and policies.

As if all of this isn't bad enough, after a hard week of mourning I finally get around to checking my email and I am forced to admit that I was right all along.

From an email circulating among Native journalists: (Names withheld to protect the innocent)

-------------------------------------
Heh,
No surprise, but Indian Country Today has a huge ad on the front of
their website for the CIA Clandestine Services
http://www.indiancountry.com
NCAI has a huge ad for the FBI on the front of their website ....
-------------------------------------

Bad enough, right? Then this:
-------------------------------------
"Hi,
I'm sending this out again:
It was very disturbing to see a huge advertisement for the "CIA
Clandestine" services,
CIA spies, on the front of Indian Country Today's website on Sunday.
Sadly, many people still believe ICT is a legitimate Indian newspaper.
Also, those attending the National Congress of American Indian's
annual convention in
Phoenix this month, may be surprised to see that the FBI is one of the
main sponsors:
http://www.ncai.org/Home.320.0.html
-------------------------------------

Hmm, what does all of this mean?

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

continuation of internal oppression tactics...our ndn leaders should put a ban on all forms of federal spy programs. If it hurts us and this will and has, it’s a treaty violation. ICT sucks, it promotes how to be a brown nose by not getting us the real issues and news...

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

I saw those ads a few times in the Hopi tutu-veh-ni papers a few years ago
too. I remember talking that over with John Stockwell who quit the CIA and wrote
books about how devastating they are, and neither of us could fully agree
on a guess what the specific job might be where they're claiming you can start
right out of high school and they'll put you to work all over the world
right away.

Chiapas, Germany, Korea or Iraq wouldn't work because even if you learned
the language perfectly, unless they're trying to embed them in Wild Bill
Cody's dance troupe or something.

Stockwell thought Cuba and I said no for the same reasons, and I thought
maybe take say a Utah navajo kid and try to have him infiltrate black
mesa pretending to be from eastern New Mexico or something. But seriously
s/he'd be at outed pretty quickly once people start talking "who's your
auntie, what clan are you," etc. eh?

Even if it's just for office work. WTF. It's bad enough most places in
the U.S. the only good job to get yourself out of poverty is the army
or your local police force. Now you want kids to become spooks and goons?

Yuck.

I think ICT, NCAI, NFIC and indianz.com etc still have a bunch of
credibility among people who don't read it every single day and know all the dynamics
and stuff. I think the only alternative is for smaller Indigenous minded
papers to crop up right in the same places those are publishing from. And hold to
real ethics such as we'll only take ads from people we would buy the product of
and feel safe to use. I can't speak for other people of course, but the CIA is
definitely something I can't buy into, and they could offer me 40,000 dollars
Canadian a week and I'd have to turn it down and just eat salads and commods
til another smaller grant came in or something.

------------------------
------------------------

Then the best (so far) goes where no settler never would dare to tread without a loaded 30.06:

------------------------
------------------------

Isn't it also true that the owner of ICT is Ray Halbritter, a Harvard graduate and a mason, correct me if I am wrong but the casino atmosphere is a perfect backdrop for those jingoistic Native "americans" to harbor ideas of progress and rationalizations to continue the status quo. It is the system and not who gets into office. Surviving is just not an alternative any more given the current and continuing mental terrorism that the generations could not have the options or opportunity to get the right Indigenous educational processes, rather than the compulsory 'western' education that often obscures the wisdom, intuition and clear cultural thriving?

---------------------
---------------------

There you have it. Mind-control is a real factor in why the Indigenous/African and Asian mind is so confused and stalled in neutral when it comes to understanding ourselves and where and how we fit into the real world. Instead of understanding we are befuddled with illusions, necessary illusions imposed to maintain positive population control. Don't believe me, read Edward Bernays, Sigmund Freud's American nephew, the man who used analytical psychology to sell useless products and later recruited to develop wartime and domestic propaganda. John Wanye and the mythology of the White man's eternal burden towards the American Indian savage began with Cristóbal Colón's getting lost and becoming a hero in spite of it centuries after he died in social disgrace at the mercy of his fellow capitalistas.
In a tale passed down from older White man to younger White man and forced on the rest of at gunpoint, in ancient days, Providence sent the modern White race to reclaim what was already their's by fiat as the White man is God's literal representation in human form and rules the Earth for Jehovah, the deity of Palestine. Therefore, the damages that were systematically accorded to the Indigenous populations of the world were, and are, a sacred part and parcel of the divine process, not the evil of the European invader. White domination according to this train of thought is as universal and as natural as sunshine. The fact that over-exposure to the sun may be potentially life threatening is a matter they keep to themselves.

The ghost of Dick Wilson lives today in the minds of the American Indian editors and publishers who observe our brothers and sisters in occupied Canada and occupied Mexico standing up for their rights while working to keep us from our struggle for freedom from colonial and genocidal oppression.

It's time to exorcise the ghost. - TheAngryindian
