Stolen Generation member Hilda Muir dies - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)


Northern Territory Chief Minister Paul Henderson has paid tribute to a prominent member of the Stolen Generation, Hilda Muir.

Mrs Muir, known affectionately as Aunty Hilda, died yesterday.

Mr Henderson says Mrs Muir's life summed up the tragedy and hope that many Aboriginal Territorians experienced this century.

She was born in Borroloola in 1920, but was removed from her family and spent her early life in Darwin's Kahlin compound.

In 1995, Mrs Muir was one of the people who attempted to seek restitution in the High Court for having been one of the Stolen Generation.
