Egyptians Suspect Military in Disappearances

The nation's military, which promised to guide the country toward democracy, has come under fire for allegedly 'disappearing' and even torturing citizens, reports the New York Times. 'The military is detaining people incommunicado, which is illegal, and so it is effectively disappearing people,' said a Human Rights Watch spokesman. All together, rights groups say dozens have vanished and at least 12 citizens were tortured in the past three weeks."
