Catholic school persecution: An offense against Indigenous languages | I Am Not A Mascot

There’s a fat manila folder of repugnant reports coming out of the Midwest about a 12-year-old Menominee student who recently suffered the full might of Catholic didactic dipshittery.
Her offense: she spoke her native language to a fellow student while in class. What was said in Menominee: “Hello,” and “I love you.” It’s reported that the girl’s mawkish instructor immediately bullwhipped her like an elephant at a circus for speaking in her First Nation dialect.
According to Native News Network, the young pupil’s teacher blistered, “You are not to speak like that! How do I know you’re not saying something bad? How would you like it if I spoke in Polish and you didn’t understand?”
Who are these titular teachers? What kind of depraved system of poor dullards would allow blunders like this in the 21st Century? I often worry about captains of the Catholic Church, but I don’t brood on their gaffes and ugly mishaps. No. They happen all too often for me, or anyone, to keep up … and I’m too busy these days to concern myself with the brimming Catholic coffer of cover-ups.
I recall as a boy someone admonishing me about Catholic nuns, schools and especially priests. These ecclesiastical thrill-seekers are like the drunken offspring of cheap mayors and mordant elected officials. They are wiggy geeks with no rudimentary sense of human decency. … They are slippery cronies with an inordinate amount of attorneys, monies and time.
