Prensa Latina News Agency - Panama''s Security Minister Denies Use of Force against Indigenous: Panama, Feb 4 (Prensa Latina) Panaman''s security minister, Jose Raul Mulino, denied the use of lethal weapons in the police clearing of the Interamerican road that has been blocked for five days by indigenous people in protest against a mining law.

The minister confirmed that the road was completely open to traffic and said he was unaware of the causes of death of an indigenous person who, according to his companions, fell victim to a pellet wound in his chest.

He admitted that the telephone communication in the conflict area was cut before the action and it will remain so until the situation returns to normal.
