Servindi - Peru: March of the water is in Ancash

Servindi � Per�Marcha del agua se encuentra en �ncash | Servicios en Comunicaci�n Intercultural Servindi Servindi, February 6, 2012. - After the massive reception in Trujillo for about five thousand people last Saturday, the members of the National Water Long March arrived Sunday to the city of Chimbote.

Trujillo was performed in a parade and then the public forum on Water, was supported by the people and delegations from the interior, who demonstrate their support besides, they provided food, water and other presents.

"We have come from the gaps in Conga to say that the people's will must be respected, to say well we want a type of development that does not harm our rivers and lakes, not unaware of the rights of peoples," said the former priest Marco Cajamarca Arana, during the speech at the parade in the city.

Also, a delegation of ronderos belonging to Santiago de Chuco and Quiruvilca, towns in the Sierra de La Libertad, joined the march to Lima to demand that the judiciary validates an ordinance declaring the inviolability of a group of ponds that are used by mining.

"The gaps are in the watershed Caballo Moro are the only sources of water that the city of Santiago de Chuco in the coming years. If you use mining we ran out of the water resource, "said the district mayor, Juan Gabriel Alipio.
