TAP MAGAZINE: Welcome Home Haiti. Haiti Joins The African Union: The 18th conference of the members of African Union concluded two days ago and one of the highlights (China's Gift To Africa) of the event was the confirmation that Haiti had been granted the status of Member Observer with The African Union. Haiti's case is unique and one that will likely serve as a precedent in the future in the sense that Haiti is the first country (of African Diasporas) outside Africa to put forward such a motion. Immediately, Haiti took its chance and submitted to the Union a formal request for full Associate Member of the Union of Heads of state and Government of Africa. This status will be effective from the next Union summit in June 2013 in South Africa.
