Thousands of veterans entitled to unclaimed back pay: [cherokeephoenix.org] TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Service members called upon to involuntarily extend their service between the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and Sept. 30, 2009, are eligible for retroactive pay but many are not aware of it. Veterans discharged with honorable status, active duty, reservists, and beneficiaries (surviving spouses or children) who either served or whose family member served may be eligible and are encouraged to apply.
