Revolutionary candidate Alex Morley officially announces campaign for Englerston constituency in the Bahamas!
Revolutionary candidate Alex Morley officially announces campaign for Englerston constituency in the Bahamas! - In a very somber mood befitting the seriousness of the day Alexander Morley officially declared himself a candidate for the Englerston constituency in the Bahamas’ 2012 general elections on ‘Nomination Day,’ April 17. Mr. Morley walked into the R.M. Bailey High School in the Englerston constituency shortly after 9:00am accompanied by a sole campaign aide. There was little fanfare from his camp but definitely an air of confidence and purpose. Nomination Day serves as a day when all political candidates must submit notarized nomination day papers that require: 1. Signatures from five registered voters in the respective constituency who essentially nominate the candidate and vouch that the candidate is qualified to represent the constituency in the House of Assembly; 2. A declaration of all assets, liabilities and income of the candidate; and 3. A payment of $400 in cash (Bahamian currency only). Mr. Morley, who is a first-time political candidate, is running as an independent candidate whose official symbol is the Black Star. His campaign is based on a revolutionary national democratic program focused on: 1. Economic Development & Job Creation 2. Community Control of the Police 3. Widening Citizenship Rights 4. Ending US-led foreign domination of The Bahamas General elections in the Bahamas will be held on Monday, May 7.
