FREE RADIO FOR CHIAPAS � dorset chiapas solidarity: Since 1994, the indigenous Zapatista communities of Chiapas (Mexico), faced with the government’s failure to recognize the rights of indigenous peoples, raised their voices and began the construction of their autonomy as original peoples.
In a context of war, the Zapatistas in autonomy walk from resistance to dignity, developing their work while under harassment from military and paramilitary forces who invade their territory, paid by the government that aims to silence them and bury them again in oblivion and misery.
In their process of autonomy, as well as managing and maintaining, using their own organizational and cultural traditions, their own systems of governance, health, education and marketing, the Zapatista communities are also developing an autonomous system of communication.
