The Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), the country's highest court closed the case mensalão called, the process longer and more political corruption scandal in its history, with 25 convictions and seven acquittals. Before beginning the sentencing phase, the court must define ties recorded around seven accused, among which the former Minister of Transport Anderson Adauto, who were found guilty of five of the judges and innocent for another five.
The court ultimately decided that the defendants had formed a gang or criminal association to commit various crimes. All of them had been convicted of other crimes. It was the most sensitive and most had divided the judges in this process, which began on August 3 and was broadcast live and in full on television.
