The Turner Report: McCaskill campaign: Todd Akin claimed NDAA legalized bestiality:
In September, at a campaign stop in Columbia, Todd Akin explained that his opposition to the Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act was due in large part to his belief that it legalized bestality. Nowhere in the Senate version of the bill is bestality legalized, but rather, this comment is another in a long series of instances where Akin misstates facts to support his extreme beliefs that are outside of the mainstream for Missouri voters. Akin, said "The Senate version of the bill… They also had the legalization of bestiality, which is a pretty weird thing. So, I'm on the House side of the negotiations on that. So, we got rid of the bestiality thing" [Akin remarks in Columbia, 9/27/12]
