ABORIGINAL NEWS GROUP STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF HUGO CHAVEZ
A Communiqué from the ANG Public Information Bureau:
To the Sovereign People of the Socialist Republic of Venezuela
To all Colonialised Peoples of the Fourth World
The editors and correspondents of the Aboriginal News Group at this time respectfully offer our sincere condolences to the family, friends, ‘Chavistas’ and fellow countrymen and women of the late Venezuelan ‘Bolivarian Revolution’ leader, Presidente Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías. The passing of this humanistic leader is a great loss for all people who struggle for universal justice and freedom in a fair world.
We stand with those who attended the national funeral in the chant: ‘Chavez lives! The revolution goes on’.
Despite the considerable pressures Presidente Chavez faced as an individual and as a leader, at home and abroad, he fought on bravely and greatly improved the quality of life and political conditions for all the people of his country. His government significantly reduced poverty, eradicated illiteracy, improved the general health, narrowed the income gap and unlike any of his predecessors, brought direct democracy to the barrios. A major social justice achievement not found anywhere else in the continental Americas living under laissez-faire capitalism.
Presidente Chavez was a man of vision, character and political honesty. A rare thing indeed.
And we will never forget him.
Forward with the Bolivarian Revolution!
