A Rohingya Was Shot Dead By Local Police In Taungbro, Maungdaw ~ Rohingya Blogger: On 9pm on October 29, 2013 an innocent Rohingya named Zahid Alam S/o Abdul Hamid from No. (1) Ward in Taungbro sub-region, was fishing in the prawn pond in Kyee Kyun village. He was said to be shot dead by "alcoholic local police" from No. (32) Battalion. It was done without any reason. He died on the spot.

The corpse was sent by police to the sub-region hospital by for postmortem. On October 30, 2013 at 3:20pm, the police brought the corpse to the cemetery in No. (1) Ward, Taungbro sub-region and was buried. The security personnel were placed at the cemetery during the burial. The victim who was brutally killed by police was a Muslim. The local residents were not allowed to have congregational funeral prayer for him. Moreover, the dead body wasn’t handed over to the family.
