CMD Submits Testimony to U.S. Senate on ALEC and “Stand Your Ground” | PR Watch: The Center for Media and Democracy is submitting the testimony below to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Human Rights for the hearing today on "'Stand Your Ground' Laws: Civil Rights and Public Safety Implications of the Expanded Use of Deadly Force." The hearing, where the mother of Trayvon Martin has been asked to testify about the devastating effects of radical changes to�gun laws that were backed by the American Legislative Exchange Council in partnership with the NRA, will be webcast live on Tuesday, October 29 at 10am eastern/9am central at this link. Also, here is a letter thanking the Senate Judiciary Committee�for shedding light on "Stand Your Ground" laws and ALEC's role in pushing for such laws,�from organizations that cumulatively represent more than 10 million Americans.
