Speaking from Brussels Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has called for a de-escalation of the increasingly dangerous situation in Gaza.


“The situation in Gaza is totally unacceptable. We have seen almost 500 strikes by Israeli fighter jets in an area the size of Co. Louth with one of the highest population densities in the world. How Israel seeks to avoid mass casualties is yet to be explained?
"The situation in Gaza is now becoming unbearable for the local population with a rising civilian death toll and casualties, the majority of which are civilian including children.
“Things are compounded by the fact that food and medical supplies are limited due to the on-going and unjust blockade of Gaza that has effectively turned the region into an open air prison.
