Maduro Slams US Misuse of Human Rights Discourse at United Nations | News | teleSUR English: Venezuela asks for the maximum respect from the U.N. council,” Maduro said.

Maduro thanked the fellow member countries for re-electing Venezuela to the council last month, in his special speech to update the council on the situation of human rights in Venezuela. Maduro reminded the organization of the significant gains the nation had made in eradicating poverty and said that Venezuela’s re-election to the council was a “vote of confidence.”

He explained how his government’s opponents manipulated Venezuela’s human rights record in an attempt to remove the democratically elected executive, as in reality, despite a difficult year due to the economic war, the state had continued to fight poverty, reduce unemployment, and continue with its housing, education, health and nutrition missions.
