Campus security must stop attacking students – UJ academics | News24: "I think heavy handedness and the kind of securitisation we have seen on campuses has been extremely repressive and it needs to stop," political theorist Dr Ayesha Omar said on Friday.

Several academics participated in the picket in support of the free education movement.

Academics, dressed in their academic regalia, marched from the institution's Auckland Park campus onto the busy Kingsway Street, distributing pamphlets to motorists.

They held placards which read "Stop all violence" and "Funding must rise #FeesMustFall".
