Cowra NSW man shot by police in bum after he was found with a gun | Daily Mail Online: Indigenous man Dennis John 'DJ' Doolan was shot about 12.10pm on Wednesday at Jindalee Circuit in Cowra, Central West NSW.
His cousin said Mr Doolan was not armed and said the police shooting was 'racism at its finest' as tensions erupt in the small town.
Police said he had been armed throughout the confrontation, but it was unclear whether he was armed at the time he was shot.
Mr Doolan had smashed a plate, run at police with a screw driver and run at police with an axe handle - without its blade - before he was shot, a witness told Daily Mail Australia.
