Unite Against Fascism | Anti-fascist campaigners condemn Parliament terrorist attacks and attempts by far-right to exploit them: NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Today’s horrific attack on Westminster bridge and Parliament was condemned in the strongest possible terms by campaigners from Unite Against Fascism (UAF).
While little is yet known of the motives behind the attacks, campaigners stressed the paramount importance of opposing any attempts by both the perpetrator of the attacks and those who wish to exploit it to spread hatred, division, Islamophobia and racism.
Far-right group Britain First have called a demonstration for 1st April. UAF have pledged a counter demonstration if Britain First proceed with such action.
Sabby Dhalu, Unite Against Fascism Joint Secretary said:

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims and of this horrific attack and their loved ones. We strongly condemn this incident. Our thoughts are also with the emergency services working tirelessly to save lives.
“Already within hours of this attack, Britain First are cynically exploiting this tragedy for their own political gain. It is crucial therefore that we stand united against such terrorist attacks and any attempts to whip up Islamophobia, racism, hatred and division.
“Violent fascism, Islamophobia and racism are on the rise. The way we respond in the aftermath of despicable attacks such as today’s is critical to stopping hatred from spreading further. The only way of doing this is through unity against terror, division, Islamophobia and racism.
“If Britain First proceed with a demonstration on 1st April, anti-fascists and anti-racists will be ready with a robust and united response.”
Weyman Bennett, Unite Against Fascism Joint Secretary said:

“The appalling events in London at Parliament have shocked us all. Deepest sympathies must be extended to the victims and their families. There can be no justification for such horror.
“In their haste to incite Islamophobia and hatred of Muslims, the fascists of Britain First, have called a march in Central London, on April 1st. ‘Britain first’ were words echoed by Thomas Mair, when he murdered Jo Cox MP.
“Britain First are notorious Islamophobes whose concern is not with the victims or their relatives, but only lie in racism. We should not be divided by such fascists. UAF calls on all anti fascists to join us in mass opposition to terror, hatred, fascism and division – our unity is our strength.”
