Maroc : l'Istiqlal affiche son soutien à la contestation populaire dans le Rif - JeuneAfrique.com - Parti historique de l’indépendance, l’Istiqlal (conservateur), a exprimé mercredi 7 juin son soutien « total et inconditionnel aux revendications sociales et économiques » du hirak, le mouvement présenté comme à l’origine de la contestation récente dans le Rif. Le parti, qui dénonce une « campagne médiatique » visant à « porter atteinte au hirak et aux habitants du Rif », demande également la libération des militants détenus et l’arrêt des poursuites judiciaires à leur encontre.

Dans le nord du pays, la province d’El Hoceima est secouée depuis près de deux semaines par un mouvement de contestation revendiquant le développement du Rif, région historiquement frondeuse et géographiquement enclavée, que les protestataires jugent « marginalisée ».
