Yawar Hussain // Illegal soil extraction goes on unabated in Budgam

Rising Kashmir: Budgam district’s Karewas have been witnessing unprecedented illegal extraction of soil for years now with the soil mafia allegedly carrying it out in connivance with district administration and police.
Following growing complaints by locals, the district administration on Thursday had formulated a committee under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Revenue Budgam to seize the tipper/ excavating equipment (JCBs) and lodge FIR against the violators.
“They (violators) may also be arrested in order to ensure that the excavation is stopped immediately,” the order read further.
