The Mapuche Authorities, Machi, Longko, Werken. Relatives and Network of Support to the Machi Celestino Cordova, and social organizations of the Mapuche People-Nation, we communicate to the Regional, National and International public opinion the following:

Today, Friday, May 11, 17 days of the recess of the hunger strike of Machi Celestino Córdova, a strike that began on January 13, 2018, lasted to the end of 102 days, severely threatening the life of Machi Celestino and forcing us to act as Authorities and representatives of the Mapuche People-Nation to intervene on the basis of the deep sense of respect for life and dignity that our people have, thus leaving the Government exclusively responsible for the solution of their demands.

Considering that the strike began after more than a year of formal requests and denied petitions, exhausting all legal instances and still being ignored and denied in an intransigent manner by the Government, who ultimately conditioned the dialogue to be carried out "without measures of pressure ", is that as ancestral authorities of this Territory and Mapuche Nation-People we decided to opt for Life, thus giving a lesson in humanity, dignity and the historical wisdom and capacity for dialogue of our People.
