// The arrest of former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio "Lula" da Silva "against the law", and the speed with which he was prosecuted, revealed, once again, the onslaught of the conservative political, economic, media and judicial right against the advances of the popular classes in our country. No one should be confused: it is not justice that is at stake, it is the desperate attempt of the ruling classes for Lula not to be a candidate in the national elections of October and to stop the advance of the rights agenda for the majority.

That is why, in these historic days in Brazil, saying "Lula Libre" goes far beyond a preference for a political party (the former president belongs to the Workers' Party, PT) or a certain candidate. The fight for Lula to appear in the elections is the rejection of the organized people (peasant, worker, student, feminist, environmentalist, black, indigenous, among many other actors) to the backwardness in terms of achievements for the popular classes, obtained by our awakening of conscience.
