Airbnb bans users headed to white nationalist conference in Tennessee

10.4.19

Lizzy Alfs  // Airbnb bans users headed to white nationalist conference in Tennessee: Faith Goldy, a vocal white nationalist who ran for Toronto mayor, took to social media on Thursday to publicly condemn Airbnb for banning her from the site. Goldy at one point was slated to be a speaker at the conference, but she is no longer listed as a speaker on the American Renaissance website.

“Today I was banned from Airbnb ‘due to violation of TOS.’ No specifics given. I had 100 percent positive reviews & rely on the service for professional travel. Airbnb’s own policy outlines a commitment to ‘inclusion and respect.’ So why am I excluded from the platform,” Goldy wrote in a tweet directed at Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky.

In her tweet, Goldy attached an email from Airbnb customer service that said she was removed from the platform due to a violation of the company's terms of service.

“Per our Terms of Service, Airbnb reserves the right to make the final determination with respect to such matters, and this decision will not be reversed,” the email says.
