Evo Morales Talks to teleSUR: On Social Justice, Freedom | Opinion | teleSUR English: Well, thanks to my mother, my parents taught me to be Catholic, to pray. Sometimes I worry about the behavior of the Catholic Church hierarchy. When I say I am essentially Catholic I mean I look after my religious faith, and when I hear of problems with the Catholic Church, it's bad for them, however, with brother Pope Francis, religious faith and hope are strengthened. In the past the Catholic Church was used to submit and dominate people, especially indigenous people. But now we have a pope who has established that our people should be free, a sentiment we share, because of this we welcome the pope to Bolivia to share our celebration of religion — yesterday, today, tomorrow and more — and I guarantee that Pope Francis's messages will strengthen us.
